In october 2010 we finally started receiving detailed paper bill for our home loan. We could not figure out why we have been paying 24.95 more on the loan. We thought is might have been our property taxes. When we called the company National Union Fire Insurance Company ( N.U.S.I.C.) They told us that it was for fire insurance neither I nor my spouse added it we cancled it and requested to be contacted by someone from this company or give us another number where we could call. The woman explained there was no number for the company would have to write them. So I did. It is now January 6, 2011 we have still not heard back from this company. This should be illegal.
We feel we have been robbed, and violated and wamt our 499.00 back. At least the Company could have written me back with a response. This Company needs stopped and should have to refund people the money they have stolen .

I had the same thing happen to me..apparently they swear my husband authorized this, he swears he did not. In any case.
I filed a fraudulent charges complaint to the bank . I also filed a "Stop payment" to the bank so no further payments would be made to this company.
I also sent a certified registered reciept return requested letter to the company to tell them I did not want their services and I expect all future business with them to be terminated at once.
I told them I filed a stop payment so they would not get anymore money from me and I filed fraudulent charges reports with the bank as well.
I expect these actions will end our business together...the next thing I file will be a police report if not.

well first and foremost this has nothing to do with fire insurance despite the name. the policies this company sells are accidental death/disability/general accident policies. Most likely you or your spouse received an insert in your mortgage statement for a free year of accident insurance with fine print indicating it would automatically renew unless you called to cancel the insurance. since it was offered in conjunction with your mortgage company by singing the free year you do authorize them to bill to the mortgage company. reminder letters are sent about 30 days before they start to bill (i'm not sure if it was always like this). Because someone signed that paper, it is legal. the letter is mailed out and my guess is 85% of people think it's junk mail. It may have also happened that you got a phone call on behalf of your mortgage company for a free trial to look over the info and again you get this envelope that looks like junk mail and gets thrown away. As far as not hearing back, I would reccommend sending a second letter registered mail so there is no denial of them getting the letter. at that point give it a week and call customer service they can look and see if you'll be getting a refund or not.
