Hello,
I went to court today for a child support establishment hearing in which I have split custody of one of my two children from the same marriage. It was court ordered based upon the NC CSE Guidelines and I was given a guideline worksheet with the following information.

My ex-wife gross income - Plaintiff - 1982.32 no other deductions 34.68% share of income.
My income - Defendant - 3734.30 with $120.95 in health care premium cost. @ 65.32% share of income.
Recommended Child Support Order of $517 according to the guideline sheet I was given. This was handwritten in on a sheet labeled as scheduled C.

I have done a guideline Worksheet C from the CSE web page and the only sheet I can come up with that gives this total is a Worksheet A. I feel this has been calculated incorrectly and would respectfully request some information on how to correct this issue. According to Worksheet C for Split custody the support order should only be for $147.10

Continued: I tried to get assistance from the NC CSE 800 "Customer Service" (laugh) number but they refused to help and referred me back to the case worker that made the mistake. Stating they would have her call me. I called her office directly but she was always busy. Finally, I returned to the court house and went to the Child Support Clerk of Courts. The lady was friendly and wouldn't come right out and say it but insinuated there may have been a mistake. She called the original case worker while I waited and suggested a mistake was made. From what I could gather from the conversation the original case worker was still not accepting there was a mistake made.

Finally, I went to the court room and to my surprise the same judge was there. Also there was a different CSE worker. I spoke to this lady, ( I wish I got her name) and she said the Child Support Worksheet was definitely done incorrectly. She spoke to the state attorney, who said if it's wrong we will fix it. The judge said he was returning to his Chambers but would be available to change the when needed.

Long story short, the state attorney told me good job and gave me a thumbs up and the order for support was reduced from $517 to $147 per month. I am still not sure what's up with the original case worker, she must not see herself making mistakes as possibility. She should be terminated for her conduct and her willingness to be unfair and biased.
