re: NetBank account number: 5104488145
On or about 02/01/2004 Netbank froze internet access to my account citing security reasons.
I called right away and spoke with a Netbank service rep. The Netbank service rep. explained that rectification process would involve faxing several forms of official identification, utility bills and/or other documentation to them (at my expense).
THE PROCESS TOOK AT LEAST ONE FULL WEEK!!!!!!
Through no fault of my own, my money was not accessible to me for at least a week. Plus I had un-reimbursed fax expenses and mileage expense to drive to my local Staples store to fax the requested documents to NetBank!
Due to this un-acceptable level of service, I was forced to close the account!
After I closed out the account, Netbank imposed some petty fees amounting to under $10.
A few months later a NetBank rep. contacted me in an attempt to collect those fees. I responded that
"Whereas Netbank was responsible for the events that caused the account to be closed, Netbank was responsible for those fees". I further stated that NetBank had not re-reimbursed me for fax expenses and mileage for driving to my local Staples store to do the faxing. And that NetBank in fact owed me a few dollars.
I also requested not to be harassed any further on the subject. At this point I considered the matter closed!
Until, on March 5, 2007 I was denied opening a Checking account with Citibank. The reason given was NetBank had reported those disputed fees from 2004 to (ChexSystems) as unpaid!! . Unbelievable, they mess-up and I get reported to ChexSystems!!
Citibank was offering a premium worth $450 for that new checking account. The way I see it, if we don't reach an amicable settlement quickly, Netbank will owe me $450 in damages.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
R.B. , I think you should tell the whole story here
AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

R.B.,
I had a NetBank account for a few years and am familiar with their verification process, etc.
You never mentioned how long you had the account. This is very important. New accounts endure tighter scrutiny than seasoned accounts.
They engage in these security measures to prevent fraud. It is actually for your protection.
Please tell us exactly how long you had your account with NetBank, and exactly what the fees were for. This is very important.
And, did they freeze only internet access, or all account access? Could you use your debit card or checks?
As far as the fax expenses and mileage to Staples, that is extremely petty.
The verification is required of all customers and is clearly spelled out when you opened the account.
You considered the matter closed, however, it obviously was not, as you found out. These charges were most likely spelled out in your account agreement. As far as the $450 promotion with the other bank goes, HOW exactly is NetBank liable for that? YOU closed an account without satisfying YOUR obligation to them. That is why you are in ChexSystems. A choice.
