I purchased a surface pro 2 and a cover from newegg. Some of the characters on the numbered keys stopped working or would be a different character than what was selected.

Called newegg for an exchange and was told no original box no exchange.  I said the new keyboard would have a box that I could use to return the broken piece of crap but they stated that was not an option.

Bottom line if you don't have the cardboard box that the item was shipped in you are screwed. I will never use them again and will only buy from stores that have real return policies that make sense.

You can't make up for your lack of customer service back then by trying to manage this through social media now, asking people to contact you on customer review sites that have given up because they were told over the phone "this is our return policy - did you read our policy?".

Even when knowing exactly what to look for (I purchased a keyboard and wanted to exchange it for one that would work), I went back and read through your return policy but found that I still would not have known which part of the return policy pertains to my purchase. It should plainly state to save the box or you are screwed on anything you purchase and wish to exchange or return. You should have that disclaimer as a pop up that one has to acknowledge before they buy something so you would cut down on lost customers.
