I have been a customer of NexTel for about six months now and let me tell you, these last six months have been the most irritating and frustrating months of my life. I have two phones on my account at NexTel and I wish I had never done business with them.

NexTel cannot seem to get their billing straight. They also have problems with their own employees doing their jobs right. I have never in my life heard of a company that works like they do. Whenever I call NexTel's customer service I get a different story every time I call.

For the first 3 months of service we did not recieve a bill. When calling customer service about this they told us that they were having a "national problem" with their billing. When they finally sent the bill out, it went to the wrong address. But that is the least of my worries. We pay $140.00 plus for our phones each month. And that is what we expected to pay.

But then they changed our plan on us, and did not let us know. Changing the plan is frusturating itself, because it is not the plan I signed up for but they have the right to do that. The fact that they did not send us a letter or call us to let us know pissed me off. But I'm sure it's just a way to make a few more bucks off of us. Of course Nextel says they did send us a letter, but we have never seen it. Just like everything else they say they send us we never get, but of course we get the bill just fine. Go figure! Well anyway, changing that plan caused us and excess of about $75.00 to our bill. We spoke with a customer service representative and explained the siutuation and his name was Eric I believe. He was very understanding of our plight and waived the extra charges. How nice. Everything goes along fine for a while until we have to pay the bill. We pay the bill over the phone and the lady taking our money has no idea the fees are waived and she says she has nothing "memoed" in the computer. Gee that's like the millionth time I've heard that from the customer service employees.

They never memo anything! But she agrees to put the extra charges into investigation. She informs us that we do not pay the extra charge until we HEAR BACK FROM THEM TO LET US KNOW ABOUT THE FINDINGS OF THE INVESTIGATION. Fine. No one calls us to let us know anything! Then we get a Nextel Text Message today saying we have to call Nextel NOW!! We speak with a lady named Denise. She is extremely rude and informs us that our account is past due and in delinquency and we must pay those charges AND the next bill (That's not even due until June 23rd!!!) or she is cutting the phones off. Well we just goddamn paid the last bill two weeks ago last friday. Me and my fiancee are not freaking ATMs.

We live on a budget and everything is set up just so. Denise does not want to work with us all. I explained that we would be willing to pay the extra charge since that's what has caused the bill to go into delinquency, even though NO ONE HAS STILL CALLLED US BACK ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION. But she does not want to hear it and wants about $265.00 from us right now, right there.

She informs us that we need to "put on glasses and read the contract." She also tells us that our account is only a couple out of "BILLIONS" and NexTel does not need us!!!! I have never been treated so rudely before in my LIFE!!! We have paid over a thousand dollars for our phones. That in itself is RIDICULOUS. But we are PAYING CUSTOMERS. And Nextel refused to work with us.

They also had apparently changed our bill so that the day we get it in the mail is the day it's due. But everyone else I have talked to has about 2 weeks from the day they get their bills. So what's up with that? Every other cellular company I have dealt with has bent over backwards to keep their customers. I thought Cellular One was awful but now I wish I would have stuck with them. Nextel is the business from hell and they do not care about their customers. Half the time they don't even have our d**n payment in the computer, even thought it has come through the bank.

It seems like every week they are screaming for more money when they make a killing off of us already. I have no problem paying a bill, when it's owed, but not whenever Nextel decides they want it. They need to keep it the same every month but they don't, not for us.

I am still in disbelief that that b***h told us that Nextel did not need us. Unfortunatley I just don't have $200.00 extra goddamn dollars sitting around to give Nextel to wipe their a*s with, so my account will be cut off and there will be no telling how much I'll eventually owe that Nextel WILL NEVER SEE FROM ME!!! They won't work with us so they will never see another dime out of me.

Nextel is the biggest rip off company I've ever seen. We get different stories everytime we call Nextel, managers tell us they will "get to the bottom of it" and we never see s**t happen, they can't keep their billing straight, they can't keep the information in their computers straight. And unfortunatley, all these problems don't affect them, they affect us and screw us over. Nextel you really suck and I'm gonna tell EVERYONE I KNOW never to do business with you.

Fighting with Nextel over Bills

I suggest you call Nextel's Customer Service number and ask for CUSTOMER RETENTION. Explain your entire scenario, step by step, and let the know you are very dissatisfied.

I only had to do this THREE TIMES before they finally fixed my account. (Sad but true) On the other hand, now that it's right, it's a wonderful service, regardless of the customer service attitudes you've encountered.

Also, start NOW keeping detailed notes about every call. Get the name, department, and employee number of every person you talk to, and be sure to make notes of what they tell you. In that way, the future people who access your account will be able to confirm the information you give them by what shows up (or sometimes doesn't) on their screen.

Good luck.......it takes some serious work, but once they fix your problem and move on to heckling somebody else, Nextels are okay.
