North American Power NAPOWER Bait and Switch Plans. Unregulated. Norwalk Connecticut

I hope this note will save at least others who are planning to switch to North American Power for saving a few cents on gas and electricity bills.

North American Power is unregulated utility (gas/electricity) company operating multiple states. This company is based out of Norwalk, CT and advertises plans that are false and of "Bait and Switch" type.

I switched to this company a few months ago after receiving a flier in the mail.

Now, I am charged 3 times my utility company rates (yes, 3 times) for Gas. My public company charges 0.49 per Therm while NAPOWER is charging $1.59 cents. This is insane. I have already ordered to switch back but it takes 2 billings cycles. NAPOWER conveniently offered me a fixed rate plan which also takes a month to be effective. Even worse, Fixed rate plan will put you in contract. That means there are breakage charges if you get out.

The rep. (what a shame) said to me that the rates are steady right now. When I asked what is the current rate, she said, it's $1.59. 

Beware! Do not fall for their false advertisements. You will be stuck to make adjustments. I hope this company gets shuttered soon by the authorities for advertising unsustainable (one month rate) rates only to get customers and then skim those accounts.

Please stay away. I have 3 times the normal amount this month already. My usage did not go up. It was purely because of NAPOWER Rates. I have another month of bleeding before I could get out of this mess.
