Received a Collection Alert letter from North Shore advising that I had an outstanding balance on an account from Reiman Publications. I do not have an outstanding balance with this company. I did receive and pay for one cookbook (Taste of Home) in 2004 and have received cookbooks each year thereafter. I always return the cookbooks as they were unordered and I did not want them.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Did you open the packaging of any of the cookbooks?

AUTHOR: Elaine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 02, 2006

If you simply refused the cookbooks - scratch out your address with a big X and write return to sender, you shouldn't have been charged. However, if you open the packaging and didn't PAY for the returned postage (yes, you'll have to pay for postage if you open the package) the postal service may not have returned the book, and therefore Reiman thinks you received it. If you haven't paid for it, that's why it was sent to collections. Check on this and let us know...
