northland group inc Received debt from Northland in the amount of $541.74 for alledged unpaid debt from Capital One (4583).Payment plan/stating 3installments of $180.58.Confirmed w/Capital One directly. No unpaid debt, Internet

I received a notification from Northland Group Inc.(Northland Acct# f74839730) stating I had unpaid debt. of $1,547.88 from a Capital One ending in 4583. I first called Capital One Corporation, confirming that I did not have an account with Capital One, nor any outstanding unpaid debt. I then called Northland Group, Inc., and spoke with Justin.  He first needed personal information from me, requesting my ss #.  Capital One had informed me not to give out personal info.

I wanted to give the acct number that Northland provided.  This was not enough.  They stated how did they know that I was whom I stated? I redirected the same statement to him.  I then stated, how do I know you are a legitimate company and not a scam collection agency.  Justin stated they needed to know that they were speaking to the correct person.  I rebutted why are you sending me a letter stating differently. 

I further stated that they are fishing to receive payment from any person or someone that was willing to pay and give personal information.  Justin stated he needed my social security number to further the phone conversation and only then he could give me pertinent information to this alleged claim.  Even if I provided my ss# (which I did not) the info. that the rep. would provide is very vague. 

I requested the year, the State, and the Address to where the bills were sent previously.  Again, he gave no information.  I kept repeating that I confirmed info. with Capital One, and that Capital One has there own collection agency.  He then commented to go on line and log in and stated again to provided last 4 of ss#.  The collection agency for Capital One is not Northland Group.  The rep. Justin was getting frustrated and said he was getting no where and hung up on me.
