I signed up for a Fl trip and Bahama Cruise getaway at a rodeo event in Des Moines, IA on January 14, 2012. I received a phone call tonight January 19, 2012 from a woman named Joshua Richardson, Executive Coordinator for Oasis Travel. (What woman is named Joshua?) Anyway, she said I won the drawing which included 4 days at Ramada Plaza in Orlando including tickets to Arabian Nights Show, 3 days in Daytona Beach at Plaza Ocean Club and 3 Day Bahama Cruise on Celebration Cruise Line valued at $3,500. I would receive information by email and also originals in the mail.
I would only have to pay $199 for myself and $199 for a guest and transportion to FL. I would have to take the trip within the next 18 months. It sounded legit and I was actually feeling like this might be the real deal. She said I would be trasfered to the Customer Service Dept but would need to first get more details.
After reviewing my name, address and phone number, she asked if my name showed the same on my credit card, asked for my expiration date and what type of card it was and then my credit card number. I told her I would not give my card number over the phone and asked it I could complete at the time I receive my documents in the mail. She stated I had to only pay for myself right now which would only be $199 on a credit card to hold my registration. This was a registration fee. I would not give my card number over the phone and she said I was going to lose a great trip. I said no thanks and hung up.
I looked up info about Oasis Travel and found this site and others. I also googled the address and it's a small strip mall. I had something like this happen to me before with a different so called company who said I won a trip and they asked for payment over the phone. If you win something, you should not have to pay for it!!!!!!!!!
