I just received a call from a woman who told me that I won a gift card to "any gas station in the USA."  I immediately asked how, and she answered that I did some Mystery Shopping and won it that way.  I could almost believe this because I am a mystery shopper.

However, as she started explaining things and asking if my insurance was correct, I thought to myself, "how the heck can there be a gift card for every gas station in the USA?"  This is when I realized it was a scam.

After Crystal was done confirming my name, address, and phone number (which she already had), she told me that to activate the card I need to pay $2.  I asked her why couldn't they take $2 off the card and pay for it themselves.  She didn't answer my question.

I asked her if I could send the $2 via PayPal or snail mail.  She didn't answer my question.

She then simply asked what kind of credit card I have,  and that she would need the security code on the back of the card to make it active (which is BS) even if she had the card number.  I told her it is irrelevant what kind of card I have if I'm going to send the payment via PayPal.

Crystal hung up on me.

I was fortunate enough to outsmart the scam.  But now you know, if Oasis Travel calls trying to tell you that you won a gas gift card, it's bull.  And definitely a scam.
