I received a bill from One Call aka Navicomm for a call on 09/27/05 lasting 20 minutes for a charge of $20.71. No one at my house made this call. I did not pay the bill.
I started receiving phone calls from One Call on November 9, 2005. When my answering machine picked up, an automated message was left. When I answered the telephone, I was placed into an automated holding system. I waited and finally got a representative named #8141, no name, just a number. The guy had a thick accent and I had to ask him to repeat some information. I advised him that no one had made that call. He said that someone called my number collect and that someone at my end hit "1" to accept the call. I said that was incorrect and he persisted. I told him I would check again and ended the call.
The automated calls kept coming, and kept coming, and kept coming (this is the same day!). I took one of the calls and waited through their system again. Another operator finally answered by saying, "Operator (number). Are you calling to make a payment?" I said no. I explained that I had just spoken to Operator #8141 and she said, "I know." I said that I was still receiving bothersome automated phone calls and she told me that I would continue to receive the calls until I paid the bill. I scoffed and said good-bye.
I called the number from where the "collect call" had originated and it's a PHONE SEX line!
I was thrilled to find this site and learn that my suspicions were confirmed.
I intend to notify several agencies, including the postal service, FCC, and BBB.
If you get a bill from them, do NOT pay it.

I hope I am not speaking too soon, but we have not received any calls for several days. I guess they FINALLY do stop. But I documented the date and time of every call for several days as well as transcribed the message they left on my poor overworked telephone. --- Just in case a harrassment suit surfaces.

Get an inbound call blocking device

Rebecca, since it looks like One Call Navicomm has decided to resort to torture to force people to pay up, perhaps you should invest in an "inbound phone call blocking device". (Google the term in quotes)
These marvelous items are available on the web and probably at Radio Shack for about $99.00. Program the number that One Call uses into the device and it will not ring through again. All your other calls will come through unimpeded and you can once again live in peace.
If One Call begins using a different number, simply program it in as well. The device will hold a lot of numbers. And by using it you do not have to pay a monthly fee to the phone company for call blocking so it will soon pay for itself.
I have shunted aside many a persistent pesky salesman with one of these, he, he.
Good luck. Don't let them harass you!
