My Mother and Father had a contract with Orking Pest control with a guarentee of getting rid of termites. Now with their continual spraying of pesticides in and around her house, not only has it worsen my fathers illness, but there house has begun to deteriate the front of their house. Snakes have come in where the wood was eaten, and mice are coming in. They try to blame it on the wet weather rotting the wood away. But They have live termites in there house now. Still they can get no help from attorneys, because they (Mom and Dad) don't have a lot of money.

They are living on social security. No one will help. My father does not have much longer to live he has emphazema. So My mother is beside herself trying to keep a roof over his head, or bet yet keeping the roof from falling on his head, so maybe someone out there can Help.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Misunderstood Agreement

AUTHOR: Michele - ()

POSTED: Monday, October 21, 2002

I understand your anger with this situation. However, the original agreement may contain information your parents may not remember. For instance, was the portion of the home that is being attacked treated and guaranteed by Orkin. Often times customers only have an active portion of the home treated to avoid spending the money for proper treatment, and assume the agreement covers the whole house.

Secondly, does the agreement have an area that states any customer responsabilities? If moisture is present, that will affect the effectiveness of the treatment, and IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSABILITY to eliminate any water collection.

Lastly, Pest control and Termite control industries are highly regulated by Local, State, and Federal entities. Service companies on a majority level may not be regulated, but Pest Control Operators must be Licensed, Certified, and Bonded. As well, all employees must be trained and certified before ever applying any type of materials.

It sounds like to me Your Parents Made a Mistake, and you can't face the truth.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Oklahoma is notoriously consumer UNfriendly

AUTHOR: Cindy - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, September 10, 2002

Oklahoma does not regulate some things that people normally think of as being regulated industries. General Contractors, for example, are not licensed or regulated in OK, nor are roofers.

Also, the state agencies do not always respond to complaints or even share them with consumers who are researching company reliability before doing business with the company. Our BBB here in OKC also does not share complaints with researching consumers.

It IS important to file as many complaints as you can, with any consumer type agency or organization. It's too bad internet sites are not taken more seriously because happy customers aren't on sites like this, complaining. Sometimes this kind of thing is all we have to make a decision about what company we'll use.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Contact The State

AUTHOR: Phil - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 10, 2002

Pest control companies are regulated by state agencies. I would suggest that you look on your states website and contact the appropriate agency and ask them to investigate.
