I went to Paul Conte with my son looking to buy a clearance Base model Cruze. It was to be his first new car. They didn't have any but instead showed him a 2lt and offered him a price very close to the base model. The Sales scammer Ari Nathan Shoed us an invoice and said he could sell it to us for the price listed on the bottom plus rebates making it a really good deal. We left a $100 deposit(hope we get it back) and scheduled a test drive for the next afternoon.

We drove the car and decided to buy it for the agreed upon and written  price from the night before. We produce all the documentation for the rebates but it just keep getting dragged out. Ari is "supposed to be a "professional and experienced" salesman but now all of the sudden he could not properly fill out a sales form taking more time and starts mumbling that the vin # wasn't right.

Finally he fills it out after 3 try's and takes it to his "boss" who I never saw. He comes back and says there was a "mistake" and the price was suddenly $1000 more and the original invoice is suddenly vanished and a "new" one appears. Yes  I know what I saw!!! I know what I negotiated and I know what my son Signed for and saw!!! There was no mistake!!! He knew my son liked the car and wanted to scam an extra $1000 out of him. A contract is a contract an agreement is an agreement.

If you really made a "mistake"  EAT IT!!! $1000 isn't putting you out of business and I would have sent everyone I know there. Now you ruined a young mans ne car buying experience. I can assure you that I will rake the next dealer over the coals and photograph every single document and the window sticker. My only regret is not making a scene to scare the other consumers out of that place. DO NOT BUT FROM THOSE CROOKS!!!!

We wish you and your son all the best

Thank you for writing to me through DealerRater. From your last correspondence, I'm glad we were calling the correct phone number to reach you, but I'm disappointed that you would not accept any of the multiple phone calls from our general manager, Steve Skulnik.

I'm sorry we were not offered an opportunity to make things right prior to your son purchasing a vehicle elsewhere. We wish you and your son all the best.

Sincerely,

Rebuttal from Paul Conte Chevrolet

AUTHOR: Phil Wolhar - ()

POSTED: Monday, October 21, 2013

 Dear Sir,

I read and responded to your original review on DealerRater on Friday morning.  I appreciate your reply on Saturday morning, although it didn't mention that you have received any messages from our general manager, Steve Skulnik.  Steve has attempted to reach out to you, or your son, to speak about this matter since Friday.  The only phone number we have on file is a "301" area code phone number.  Did you get the messages?  Are you interested in speaking further about this situation?

Based on the multiple reviews you've left, I know you are upset.  We are 100% committed to customer satisfaction and providing a world class experience.  While our A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau and 4.8 out of 5.0 star rating with DealerRater may mean nothing to you, we do take our business seriously.

If you are not interested in speaking further, we at least want to process the refund of your $100 deposit.

Would you kindly reach out to me via email and provide a better phone number for you or would you return Steve Skulnik's messages by calling him at our dealership at 516-623-9600?

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Phil Wolhar

boss must be dishonest too

AUTHOR: Educated Consumer - ()

What was the salesman response when you presented him with your copy of the signed agreement?

"It's not a deal toll my boss signs off on it"

Funny but his"boss" has to approve the initial price that was originally written up. I guess that makes his boss dishonest too. thanks fot pointuing this out to me!!

"We left a $100 deposit(hope we get it back) and scheduled a test drive for the next afternoon."

Paying a deposit on a vehicle prior to a test-drive indicates the customer is an inexperienced buyer and an easy target. You should have provided better direction for your son.

"A contract is a contract an agreement is an agreement."

What was the salesman response when you presented him with your copy of the signed agreement?
