Recently bought a PayPower card from a Albertsons Grocery store so that a family member could transfer some funds from a bank account. Did all the website required and had the unable to process data thing as a few have experienced.  A few minutes later I get an email please send a fax with the following items. Government issued photo ID Two documents that show proof of your current address, such as: Phone Bill Utility Bill Rental/Lease Agreement.

I don't have a phone but in the process of getting a phone but phone/Internet  with phone requires a payment with a credit card at time of install. Cash not taken by installer.

Apt Complex has all basic utilities included with rent.

Lease Agreement is over 10 pages.

ID card. Ok I entered that info on the website.

Called the company using the phone number provided. 3 talks and manager said  just send a fax and we  can escalate that and have it running in less than 24 hours.

Went to staples and found out fax cost 1.99 for the first page and 1.49 for each additional page. This would be over the initial 20 I opened the card with

Nowhere on the outside of the package does it have a may require additional information to be faxed please be prepared to fax additional information. However if you rip open the package you will find that information in a little phamplette.

I have never seen someone pick up one of these packages and rip it open to spend 30 minutes reading all the fine print. That would be very much like opening a box of Lucky Charms to verify that the toy suprise promised is inside that package. This action of course may garner the action of stopre security to question if there is a theft in progress.

So for all intents and purposes when it was all said and done the cost  would be equal if not more than the intial 20 to open the card.

Result is that I can not have a internet install on time. I am out the funds and right now if i had the 20 some buck they would not provide the reimbursement to cover the cost of the fax

The big question what if i wanted to buy one of these cards and put 500 dollars  for a  nephew of mine so he could have a card to buy some things for himself? Not every company has gift cards

Hi Marcus,

We apologize for any inconvenience. We are required by Federal Law (USA PATRIOT Act) to obtain, verify and record information including your first name and last name, verifiable U.S. street address (No P.O. Boxes), date of birth, Social Security Number and other information that will allow us to reasonably identify you. This requirement prevents the card from being used for illegal purposes.

Additionally, please note that PayPower is a prepaid debit card, not a gift card, and all cardholders must be 18 years of age or older. If you have further questions, please email PR@blackhawk-net.com and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you,
