Pepboys Consumer Fraud, not following written guarantees as i had a powerstearing hose Replaced and two days latter it broke down and i had a small engine fire so i took it back and they told me it will cost another 30 dollars plus parts to fix it so i took it somewhere eles and was told that the seals was not installed and that is why it leaked again and my brakes should be fixed but my break Light is still on

i called 1-800-pep-boys and was given the run around and they would call the manager and let him know about my call and what that store is doing is okay by them..to date my problem with the powerstearing was fixed by someone eles who dont work for pepboys and the breaks the breaklight is still on, but if i take it back they might say while the parts are free. i will haft to pay again for something that should have been fixed right in the first place...

i haft to drive back to oregon and my breaks are about the same as before and Pepboys is not following their written guarantees and charging you more money even if its two latter...

don't make any sence

I have sense moved and sold my truck But i will give You This Reason Mabey it will make it clearer for you The Seals Were Not On My Hose i went too auto zone and bought the power steering hose and requested that pep boys put the hose on for me They did so but forgot too put on the seals now when break fuild gets on a hot engine it can cause a fire which it did the brake fuild is how the fire started
I dont know everything But i do know how too work on cars and how people like you rip people off..billy

This guys first sentences don't make any sence. First off a pressured power steering hose already comes with the seals right on the top of the thread it would be more work to actually try to get it off. I just don't like when consumers walk into a place of Business and think they know everything about cars and how to work on them. I know nothing about airplanes and I would not walk into a airplane hanger and start talking down to experianced mechanics it just wouldn't make any sence. These guys have been in Business for over 90 years they must be doing something right. Sounds like there is multiple problems with his car but he goes from Brakes to power steering to a fire. Last time I checked I never heard of brakes causing a fire under a hood.

pepboys

sense I'm not good with words missing some information! is not uncommon for me so here it is

if you work for pepboys my power steering hose was replaced however the seals were not and the seals were not replaced and ill admit that I got oil on my engine and I bought some degreaser from pepboys and cleaned my engine up and over the weekend my Truck was fine and Monday about 1pm I went too hometown buffet and once I got there smoke came inside the truck and I lost powers steering and I thought my truck had died

but I tried to restart it only to learn it was still running so I shut it off and opened the hood to see a fire on my spark plug and I blew it out and called a tow truck and got something to eat and kept going back and forth trying to find out where the leak was coming from as I'm good with cars and I even started it to see where the oil was spaying from and it was spraying from the part I just had changed

that is what caught fire and I had a tow truck tow it back to pepboys and they told me that they would not look at it or fix it without me paying them somewhere around or above 30 dollars even after I told them what the problem was and where the leak was coming from so I took it across the street and had it checked and fixed for 55.00 dollars and I was told that the seals were not installed,

as for the breaks the breaks work fine considering they were grinding and tearing up my wheels so the breaks are fine wonderful however my brake light is still on and wont go off and I don't want to take it back because of mechanic attitude and saying something else is wrong and will cost me more money to fix it so because of this I do most of the work on my truck myself as I was taught when I was younger how to work on cars by a mechanic and if I cant do it I will hire someone to do it for me and yes I have changed Breaks before and only one time I did a good job but the second time it cost me over five hundred dollars so once was enough for me so if i need break work done I will hire someone and the only problem i have is the abs or break light stays on when it should go off is this enough information for you???

Billy w

power stearing hose
order # 1140768

tran # 128293

I think your report is missing some information! Like you say you had your powersteering hose replaced, and then complain that your brake light is still on...did you have them do your brakes?? What did they do, please tell us all the work that Pepboys performed, and then the problems you are having with the work. Why did Pepboys want to charge you again for the work? Also why did you have a fire? Thanks!
