 Sales used
high pressure tactic to sell me and my wife home security system we don't need.

The incident started 6-17-2011 about 5:30 PM. I heard a knock on the door. Answered it and
there stood a young man, Jordan Beck and a "trainee". He said they
were going thru our neighborhood before the telephone company was to change out
wireless chips in telephone boxes.

He then went in to his spiel about covering my wife's medic alert because she is disabled. He said the phones could go down and leave her without a way to call for help. Also he said that the system
would provide break in protection as they had alarms for the doors. He stressed that most break ins occur thru an outside door.

He also said his company, Platinum Protection, was running a special to promote customer advertising. Free equipment, such as medic alert pendents, wireless call out for hospital,
ambulance and police. Wanted to see my wife pendant so I foolish allowed him
in. Then he went into to his next sales pitch of scaring my wife that she could be without a way to call for help. He also had a list of people in my neighborhood who had signed up.

He rambled on about how you got a cheaper rate with his company, free equipment as a sales promotion. He kept using my wife to get me to agree to the sales contract, account #620263. It turns out it was not a medic alert type system but a home security system.

Finally, I gave in. He said they would send installers in the next couple of days. After
phoning in, he wanted to get the five service contract signed but I was slow to
follow thru. Finally I signed and he wanted my credit card number. He took down
the information. Then he said the installers are here now to put in the equipment.
And they showed up at the door.

The equipment got installed. And the installers left. I had a sudden urge to check
the company out on line to see if they were legitimate and did not have a lot
of complaints against them. Turns out they have 453 complaints against them for
Shady sales practices and bad equipment. So I called my credit card company and
found out they had not made a charge against my card as yet, so I cancelled the
card so charges could be put on my card. I called the company and told them I
wanted to cancel the contract.

I was told they only did that weekdays and was given the number to call but the only way to cancel was to email a scan, mail a copy or fax a copy of the Notice of Cancellation to them. So I disabled the equipment, went to the post office and sent a copy of the cancellation by certified mail and email them the cancellation. They were going to charge my credit card $150 for first months service and installation.

Now they tell me lies and they are also threating me. They are getting very scary and intimadating in there letter. They will do anything and lie about everything and try to scare you like a Junk Dept Collector. I would stay away from Platnium Protection I would  warn all your friends. DO not do bussiness with Platnium protection they Use lies intimadtion and any other means to scare you into a system they equipment is junk at best and you have to pay for it for 5 years. I thought when I read all these reports on this company it was fake or false but this company is the worst and they don't update there software you can get better service from any other company but no platnuim Do not use platnium.

They lied to me on the amount and years the contract was for. the system did not work for the first year and they refuse it and they don't care they will call you a liar and just keep takeing your money.
I had to have the monitor company call them to fix it. I would not recommend this company.

is there an actual problem?

AUTHOR: pink007 - (United States of America)

I'm confused, is there an ACTUAL problem with the company or how they treated you? It sounds like the only reason you cancelled and wrote this report was from what you have read and not personally had a legitamte complaint for. I only ask because was thinking of using them and didn't think what you had to say made any sense because you simply said it was high pressure but had no other complaints. OTHER than high pressure, is there anything else wrong?
