Platinum Protection - Ammon Condie President Sales practices are pushy, deceptive. They prey on scaring women when using male salesmen. Contracts are not explained truthfully and reiterate no obligation which is just the opposite! ripoff Orem Utah

Salesmen came to my home in June of 2007 selling home security equipment. Told my wife, that they picked our home because of the way it looked and sat on the block. They told my wife there was no obligation and the equipment was free. What they wanted was to put their security sign on our lawn.

After telling her about the scary things that their system can protect against, they ask her to sign a contract with no obligation. Well, we all have lapse in judgements sometimes, so my wife signed it!? Before she signed, she told them that I would probably be mad and that we were going on vacation the next day.

I believe they saw this as an opportunity as they ripped through my home installing the equipment before I got home.

They cut out my hard wired smoke detection system and replace half of it with theirs. They put holes in the newly painted walls and who knows what else happened in my ceilings. They left so fast that they never put any signage on the lawn. I never knew the equipment was installed untill the next day when my scared wife told me about the system right before we walked out to go on a cruise. There's no obligation. all they wanted was to put a sign in our front lawn. All the equipment was free.

I called to tell Platinum Protection that I wanted the system out of my home. I first talked to a support person who told us that we would be responsible for three years of monthly service charges that was $50 per month. Furious, I talked to her manager "Christie" who reiterated the same lines after a long discussion. Then I went to the Better Business Bureau to get the name of the President of Platinum Protection, Ammon Condie. The most concern he demonstrated was when he found out that the sign wasn't on our lawn yet!

He recommended that they would install another smoke detector for us (since the original homes system had two. theirs only had one) and that they would get a sign put on our lawn. Other than that, we owed them for the three year contract!

As of right now, this issue is still unresolved. I do know one thing. the sign is still not on the front lawn

The truth about Jeremy Pixton's comment

AUTHOR: Old owner - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 19, 2012

I am currently not working with Platinum Protection but while I was there did some great things for our company and the alarm industry.  I was even awarded a top 20 under 40 by the security systems news, the industries largest publication.

http://www.securitysystemsnews.com/article/20-under-40-class-2009

I was one of the founders and had worked in the alarm industry for over 10 years.  I was a salesman for a long time and the issue that was brought up in this article about what this disgruntled ex-employees said about me not caring about licensing couldnt be farther from the truth.  I worked for another company where they didnt put much emphasis at first on licensing and had to bail out employees from jail and we were continually watching over our shoulders to make sure that we didnt get kicked out of an neighborhood or city which could be very costly.  That is why when I started Platinum Protection it was one of my main goals to improve the licensing in our company and hopefully affect the industry as a whole.  While I was there we had the smallest number of compliance complaints and issues of all competitors around our size.

This is unfortunate that a disgruntled ex-employee would say this especially when that was one of the areas I really focused on when I started that company.  I have a feeling this employees was mislead in other ways and unhappy about the outcome of his employment there.  I was even mentioned in an article about ethics.

http://www.securitysystemsnews.com/article/fans-abound-door-knocking-code-ethics

The reason I am not longer with this company is actually based on an ethical decision I made.

http://www.securitysystemsnews.com/article/sec-charges-utah-security-company-investors-ponzi-scheme

We had an investor that I stood up to because he was doing very unethical business.  He attempted to do things with our accounts and I wouldnt stand for it and left because of this.  I cannot say anything positive about this company now especially since the only owners left were the ones that would turn a blind eye to what he was doing.  I would be more worried about how things are now that I am not there.

To "ex-employee".

Sounds to me like you are upset with this company simply because you were not successful at the job you accepted. One who would give up a job "they loved going to every day", and risk their familie's financial security is the type of person that seems to have questionable judgment. I wouldn't have taken it, but since you did, live up to your own failure, and stop blaming other people for your shortcomings.
Also; since you are living off of "food stamps", I don't think that you're the right person to give consumers financial advice when it comes to written contracts with alarm companies. Failure to abide by a contract that specifies that your credit will be affected isn't very bright. Paying $1 per month would still affect ones credit, and their ability to apply for a home lone among any other credity worthy things, for years to come.
Based on the quality and thought put into your comments about Platinum Protection, it sounds as if you actually did the company a favor by quitting. I sure wouldn't hire you.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

It's all bad

AUTHOR: Ex Employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 13, 2007

Here is the deal this company does it sales promotion only from May, thru August. I was duped just like you, however it was for a job. They promised obscene amounts of money, and promised they were legit. It wasn't until I had already left my home, and quit my job to work for them, that I found out they practice every aspect of their business in a shady manner. I was fooled because I was told "I'm a christian, I have no reason to lie to you or rip you off. I just want to offer you an incredible opportunity."

First and foremost they really don't have the licenses they are supposed too. In fact for the two and a half months that I did work for them I was never doing it by the law. Now we already have them without licenses that is disregard for the law #1. They also force their sales people to knock on homes until 9 p.m. which is also against the laws. Most cities require you to stop before 7 P.M.

Joshua Dooley one of the Managers for this company, would mislead people into thinking that he was with their previous Alarm company and just there to upgrade the system. His Brother Brandon Dooley, another manager for this company is actualy famous for setting up contracts under dead people's names if the living person has poor credit. They also give you a little card to fill out and they tell you its just to confirm that you are the home owner and you don't have any warrants for your arrest. TRUTH IS IT'S A CREDIT CHECK!!! The only place they have an actual office is in Orem Utah. Other than that they have little make shift apartments that they turn into offices. No permanent locations outside of Utah.

I was told by one of the "owners" Jeremy Pixton that they don't really worry about permits and laws, because the only way there would be a problem is if the sales person brought it on themselves. I actually gave up the only job I loved going to every day, for the promise of great cash. Now I have neither. Because of how this company operates my family and I are struggling to make it financialy now. For the first time in my life I am getting food stamps. I completely understand how you feel, the best solution I can give you would be this.

Don't pay them the monthly fee. Instead just pay them $1.00 a month. They will shut off your service, but cannot report you to collections because you are making payments. Your contracts are worth a little over $1400.00 by just sending them one buck a month it would actually take 100 years to pay it in full. I know it sucks you still have to pay something. Look at it this way for paying $1.00 a month for the rest of your life they won't get paid off, and you do have a noise maker to scare people off.

If you need anything else from me I am happy to help just respond to this and give me a way to contact you Email, phone whatever you prefer. I am sorry that they got you too!
