I am a firefighter. I know about NFPA 72, which is the National Fire Alarm and Signalling Code by the National Fire Protection Association.
Having an issue regarding a fire alarm company (Platinum Protection) that refused to install the alarm system according to NFPA 72 and I brought it to the technician's attention. I was told that I was wrong and should be happy with what I got. This after Mr Aaron Katz making statements that phone lines in our neighbourhood were being cut by burglars. It would be extremely hard for any burglar to cut phone lines in our neighbourhood as they are all buried and
he/she would need a large backhoe to dig up the cables.
I didn't get the matter resolved and cancelled the contract within 48 hours of my wife and I signing it. As it turns out, the agent for Platinum Protection failed to sign the contract but they say that it's immaterial in my complaint. Their agent (Aaron Katz) also failed to register with the Chesapeake PD as a solicitor but they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company.
Mr Katz stated that the value of the system installed was in excess of $1500.00 but found the exact same kit on
the internet for approximately $250.00 but they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company. However, he was selling over inflated monthly monitoring that was to be free as we were to be his demonstration housebut they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company. He proceeded don't my street telling my neighbours that "the firefighter that lives on your street has told me to strongly suggest that you let me install my system in your house" but they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company.
Forgot to mention that Mr Katz was wearing a red polo shirt that had the GE (General Electric) logo on it and written in block lettering "GE Security Systems. No where on his shirt did it say Platinum Protection or Monitronics. He made the impression to both of us that he did work for GE Security Systems but they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company. I contacted GE and found that he did not for GE Security Systems and that GE had in fact sold their security system operations to UTC Fire & Security quite a few months prior to this action by Mr Katz.
He also made statements that we could choose any monitoring service we wanted. Montronics called within the hour stating that we had choosen them, which we had not and said as such. Their reprly was "Too f***ing bad for you. We are your monitoring service, deal with it." but they also say that it's immaterial in my complaint about their company.
They know exactly what they are doing, it their standard business practice.
