I purchased a Polaroid LCD tv model # flm-373b in march of '07. May 6th of '08 the tv would no longer 'start up' and is in need of repair. Polaroid only offers a 1 year warranty on this item, which is understandable that I am beyond this time frame for a warranty repair. A replacement part was offered by Polaroid for $400 (control box).
The problem lies with my issue NOT being an isolated incident. I have searched the internet for others having the same problem as myself and it turned up many, many complaints of the same issue. Some of the sets died at 30 days and others lasted up to 14 months all the same problem, the control box.
I work hard for the money I make, as do many and there is no reason for a company to have quality control issues like this and eagerly sell under designed products to consumers.
I have done some math and it would have been cheaper for me to have rented an lcd tv from Rent - a - Center for the time I used this now expensive boat anchor.

This same piece of junk is actually manufactured by a company called Proview. The control box and LCD panel vary slightly between revisions, but it's all the same trash. It's sold under the names Polaroid, Memorex, MAG, Element and possibly others. By the way, my dead-after-2-years TV is a MAG MF-32EF1AC.

Polaroid doesn't actually make the TVs they sell. They merely have the Polaroid name put on some cheaply made, inferior quality pieces of junk made in an Asian factory. What a shame for a company who, for decades, has been a landmark orgainization in the photographic industry. Anyone who purchases one of these TVs is asking for problems. And right behind them is RCA, who's name was sold several years ago to Thomson Electronics. Same deal with them....name stuck on an inferior piece of junk. STAY AWAY FROM THESE TWO NAMES - POLAROID AND RCA.
