I needed some kind of lawyer representation for my medical disability from military service. I contacted the prepaid lawyer Inc. and the rep responded quite quickly (I can see why...$$$) and she began to explain how the whole scam works. You pay a $35/mo + 10 for initial startup for access to lawyer services. It was explained that the service was exclusive to members who'd have complete access to legal attorneys and their services. So after I and my wife were told about how easy and great this was, we joined thinking we'd have a legal leg to stand on in times of need. WRONG!

She gave my the phone number to my lawyer and asked me to talk to him. I did. But what I received was a disrespectful attorney who rather than try to get something going, tried to dissuade me from continuing my probable lawsuit. WTF!?! anyhow, I hung up and sometime later, my wife finds prepaid legal Inc. splattered all over ripoffreport.com! imagine my suprise upon hearing hearing what I just went through in those posts.

So I called their national 1-800 number and the rep told me that they had already sent my bank the deduction request and that I had to fill out a cacellation form to quit my service..what horsesh*t! I verified my name and address already over the phone! So she also stated legally they had 15-60 days to return my refund! well I got a great idea for them! go shove their business in their a**!

DO NOT deal with them, my wife and I have now stated that before we buy anything or service from ANY company, while on the phone, we will check immediately online here to see if they suck etc... BEWARE!

Hello Chris,
I have read the reports you have given in this and another area. By saying that you paid 35$ amonth for your plan, you are telling me that you got the extended family plan with The Identity Theft Sheild. But you also say that you understand what you read. Is this a fact? If you understand what you read, then you noticed that the free trial time portion of the extended or basic family plan, is for DEFENSE in CIVIL or JOB RELATED CRIMINAL SUITS. Also, that if a case falls under the Preferred Member Benefit, that the provider law firm, just as any other law firm, has the right to request a retainer fee. Now, both of the before mentioned items are in print in the actual visual aid brochure that I trust was given to you when a representive spoke with you about the plan in plain un hidden view in their respective collums. If you were told different, then Pre-Paid Legal is not at fault, you are just a victim of someone trying to make a sale thinking that if He/She didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, they would miss out on a sale. I would like to say that False representation is wrong. I am an associate of Pre-Paid Legal.

I enjoy offering this service to people who need it but I also Pride myself in the fact that I WILL NOT MISREPRESENT A SERVICE OF THE COMPANY TO MAKE A SALE. I never have and I never will. SHAME ON ANY ASSOCIATE THAT DOES! When I was approached by an associate to participate in the service, I was approached By a young lady who was very honest and upfront with me. If I asked her a question, and she didn't know the answer, she let me talk to someone who did. And it was none other than one of Pre-paids highest paid coorparate officers. I will say that I am Proud to represent a company of such calibur an integrity.

But, I am also ashamed of any associate that "represents this company and it's services falsly and ignorantly to acheive personal gain. Furhtermore, if you had problems with your provider law firm or the associate that misrepresented the company to you, then my advice would be to contact the Company Headquarters and turn in a complaint on the provider lawfirm and the associate who "lied" to you. God Bless and Good Luck.

I hope you get things resolved with the V.A. Just a little note though, My Dad was discharged after 4 years drafted service and 2 years voluntary service shortly after WWII. Finally My aunt, who is an advocate for Disabled Vets, was able to aquire for him the benifits that he has fought to recieve for almost 55 years. You arent the only one sir. God Bless You and God Bless Our Troops and Our Vets.

two sides to every story

chris, since you dont want to share us why you want to use a lawyer for whatever legal battles you want to do, we can only go by thinking that your lawyer was right not to accept your case. Maybe its not worth it.

Why dont you call Prepaid Legal Inc and voice your concerns over your provider lawyer or memberservices ( the operators there take all kinds of complaints, comments and concerns from its members). HOW is prepaid going ot know if that particular provider lawyer is fullfilling their Requirements?

Before attacking a company, be sure that you've taken all the necessary steps to voice your concerns to the right people. DID YOU call PPL Memberservices when the lawyer told you no?

That's all nice and dandy...

I read d**n good and well what was to go on. the problem is when I pay for a service, I expect that the company do what it says it will do. I called my provider lawyer as per the instructions when I signed up and the lawyer wasn't even interested in dealing with me. figure that!, you pay your money and get the cold shoulder.

and no I pay a hell of a lot less on my cable. my cable bill is usually $100 +/- $5 to 10. So a $200 - $400 dollar lawyer IS alot more expensive.

You don't know my story, too much typing, but maybe You need to stand back and realize that you are NOT the only one who gets the shaft these days.

I hardly call 12 reports "splattered"

Just a case of someone who didn't understand their membership plan ,and didn't want to follow the advice of their provider lawyer.

You didn't give much about your "legal' case so we can't say if the lawyer was right to tell you to drop it.

So before criticizin,g you might wanna give the whole story.

We do the best we can

It amazes me how people think for $35.95 a month an Attorney is going to do back flips and jump through hoops for you. If the Attorney gave you advice to drop a case that he or she believes will go nowhere, then that's the best advice. Or you could go spend $200 to $400 an hour for another outside Lawyer who will do a thing called "running the meter". This is a term that Attorneys use for clients that are rich motivated and wrong. They drag a case on for years until the client has nothing left but maybe his shirt. If an Attorney knew you where wrong but you where motivated and had the money to go with it,do you think he would tell you to save your hard earned dollars or take you for everything you have? Sir everybody has a Legal plan. You either have ours $35.95 a month or yours $200 to $400 per hour. "Think". p.s your paying more for cable
