Around April 17, 2010 we had booked a motel with Priceline. We were to stay at the Dunkirk Motel, for 2 nights. h. When we arrived at 2 p.m. which is the established check-in time.

I had always thought that Priceline represented quality properties.  I was very mistaken. When we arrived we discovered the deplorable conditions of the motel. It is very run down. The outside needs paint, and there is mold on the awning. I cant even imagine the conditions of the rooms themselves. It so bad we were afraid to be infected with bugs if we stayed there. I am sure Priceline's spokesperson, William Shatner, would have immediately screamed: Beam me up, Scotty to escape this horrible location.

We immediately called the front desk, to cancel our reservations. We were told in extremely broken English, that we had to contact Priceline. We called Priceline, and were told we could not cancel our reservation. We would have to have canceled 48 hours before our arrival date. To make matters worse since we were calling past 12 Noon, therefore we were past the deadline to cancel the  2nd nights of our stay.

We asked to speak to the manager, who said this was their policy, and told us to write to corporate headquarters in Connecticut. We wrote a letter, and sent photographs of the Dunkirk Motel, and today we finally spoke with Jesus, (phone number 866-966-1786) who also told us he could do nothing to rectify this situation.

It seems to me that Priceline policies are very unfair. It seems set up so that if you have a problem, there is no way to cancel, especially when the check in time is AFTER the 12 noon deadline to cancel a 2nd night of a stay. I guess you need to be psychic and clairvoyant to KNOW before you arrive that the property is not up to the standards advertised. Surprisingly, Priceline made no effort, and was not interested in trying to help us or maintain good customer relations.

In short: NEVER USE PRICELINE!!!!!!!!!!!

- No all you have to do is a little research.  If this is the same Dunkirk Motel in Dunkirk, NY did you even look at the hotel description?  Priceline has it as 1(that is ONE) star,  this is the lowest rating that Priceline gives.  If that wasn't enough of a "red flag" for you, then what about the user reviews on Priceline.  There was not one over 2, and most of them were a rating of 1.

So it hardly seems like a case of mis-representation on Priceline's part.  They rated it as low as they could, they had what could be considered "bad" reviews on their site.  It was your choice to continue with the reservation.

Don't you think that if they wanted to mis-represent the motel they would suppress the "bad reviews", or "shill" some good reviews?
