They ring you up and try to pusuade you to take a Health & Safety CD on approval; when you asked them about the price they tell you its free of charge; when the CD arrives it is such utter crap that you wouldn't even pay 50 pence for it. So it gets lost; then the invoices arrive and they tell you you now have to pay and they have recorded your call blablablablabla.
This is what you:
you NEVER EVER pay; in fact you ask them to pick up THEIR CD from your practices; these are unsolicited goods and if they do not collect the goods you can destroy them or use them
you send the invoices and all their other threats to your local trading standards office and the DTI.
you send an e-mail to watchdog; eventually they will turn up at their doorstep
you demand to get a copy of the tape; there isn't one (I think); if there is one, even better, make 2 copies, send one to trading standards and one to the DTI.

The company cannot make you pay just because you 'forgot' to return the product within a certain time; in fact even if you never returned their product you do not have to pay; all the Unsolicited Goods Act asks you to do is to take reasonable care of the product and make it available for THEIR collection. If they don't, destroy it.
If they try to tell you otherwise, tell them you have reported them to the Procurator Fiscal for criminal action against the Directors and Company Secretary.
