I paid for a $1 one-time property report on PropertyRec.com but a few days later they charged me $30 and then I saw that they charged me $30 again 30 days later. I emailed them and they wouldn't give me a refund so I called and they argued with me saying I signed up for their "volume discount package" but I can assure you I did NOT. I saw that option and I said no thanks because I only needed to look up one house, why would I need that? I threatened a chargeback and the customer service agent quickly changed their tune and said "we'll refund you right away".

I wonder how many people think they are getting a $1 report and get charged a few hundred dollars without noticing the $30 charges they get every month? Shame on you! This is blatant fraud, bait and switch, and negative option billing - where you charge someone over and over until they cancel. I did NOT give you permission to do this but apparently, hidden in their disclaimers, it says they will charge you each month and that is so misleading because people shouldn't have to investigate the fine print on other pages when they are purchasing. The information should be provided on the checkout page.

I will never use this website again or it's sister website that I found: PropertyRecord.com.

Little tidbit I found out while investigating this website: PropertyRecord.com is owned by someone who got in trouble a few years ago by the FTC for bait and switch scams and negative option billing fraud to the tune of $350 million.... Seems like they didn't learn their lesson or perhaps our legal system is just flawed. Someone needs to do a deep dive on these companies ASAP because they are certainly robbing everyone.
