Providian ripoff sent paid off account to Calvary Portfolio Services Pleasanton California

My ProvidianVisa Account was paid in full(I have endorsed cancelled ck)and closed in May of 2003. They continued to send me a bill for a monthly charge. When contacted they said that it was closed and it would be taken care of.

It wasn't they sent a 138.00 past due balance to Calvary Portfolio Services. I discovered this when I pulled my credit reports. I have disputed it with all three agencies for over a year. Two have removed it....the other, Transunion, will not. It is shown as two separate accounts.

I have never been contacted by Calvary, either by mail or phone....the collection simply appeared on my credit report.

Each year Calvary has sent 'updates' to my credit report verifying that it has not been paid...this extends the time on my credit report. It is now on there until 2010...and in Texas the statue of limitations is 4.

I have filled a dispute to be placed in my credit record; however, I don't know if that will do any good.

These con artists need hit with some serious penalties.
