BEWARE of QuickenLoans!! . If QuickenLoans calls you and tries to convince you they can save you money by refinancing your mortgage at a lower rate....RUN LIKE HELL! We just went through almost 2 months of jumping through every hoop possible, all successfully I may add, and despite being told SEVERAL TIMES that we should have no worries about the required appraisal, the application was denied because of a low appraisal, and Quicken Loans pocketed over $350 of our Good Faith deposit...and refused to refund it. I feel this was a scam as they contacted me to re-finance, assuring me all through the process that there should be "no worries", only to fleece us out of over $350.00.

Quicken is not ripping people off...

I have used Quicken loans multiple times, all with a great experience. I also was unable to refinance recently due to a lower appraisal on a property; the appraisal was done by a local broker, not by Quicken and was correct for the market. Out of the payment of $500, $150 was refunded and what I paid for was the appraisal fee which goes to the broker, not Quicken. Quicken makes money by doing loans, period. It is not in their best interest to not be able to close the deal.
They are listed in Fortune 100 Great Places to Work - a prestigious and difficult process to go through and being in HR, I have quizzed their employees about their work life. From around the country, their employees continue to blow away the competition in professionalism and customer service and they love working there. I will use them every time I can and recommend them regularly to co-workers who report the same excellent customer service. Websites like this are hyped by banks who want people to think Quicken is ripping them off which is just testament to the inroads Quicken has made in this market.
