 I was called by the Real Estate Law Firm because they said I was given an illegal loan and that because the loan by Wells Fargo was illegal they will not only give me a loan modification I will also get a settlement of about $50k  The Real Estate Law Center sends you several attachments of cases they won against Wells Fargo and other banks. 

They then say they cannot promise you will win but the changes are very good.  Once they charge you about $6500.00 and a $1500.00 a month retainer they review your case and say sorry you did have a case but it is past the statute of limitations and although the loan is illegal now it was not at the time so the best we can do if file bankruptcy for you.  I explain I am self-employed and filing bankruptcy is the worst possible think i could do  they reply I got was "then you really do not want to save your house"  Also because i live in northern California I need to find my own law firm to file the banrupcy. 

They knew very little to nothing about loan modification processes even though many articles on the web that states you must make at least 31% of your mortgage payment but not more than 75%. 

The bank will never give you the requirement even though again there are seveal govement websites that give you this information.
