On 8/14/06 I called Recreational Factory Warehouse to inquire about the warrenty on my pool pump purchased there in May of 2005. I was told that the MFG warrented their equipment for 2 years at 100% replacement and 5 years @ 50% replacement and if I had my reciept they would be happy to exchange my pump. This unfortunatly was the only good expeience of the day with them. I brought my pump which no longer pumped and the required paper work to RFW and put the pump on the counter and told the sales peson that it no longer pumped and that I had left my paper work in my truck and would be right back. Before I could reach the door another sales person shouted out to me that there was nothing wrong with the pump. I returned with my paper work and was told by 2 sales people that there was nothing wrong with my pump, they demonstrated this by turning on the pump and it ran fine. I informed them that my complaint was not that the pump didn't run but rather that it did not pump. At yhis point the sales people adopted a arrogent attitude and said that I must have a plugged suction line. I informed them both that I had check everything in the system and that the pump simply did not pump and I would like to exchange it for one that did. One of the sales people simply walked away at this point and the other told me that they could not give me a new pump because this one ran. I asked to see the manager at this point and when he came out I patiently explained to him exactly what I had done that led me to the conclusion that the pump no longer pumped. He said that as far as he knew if the pump ran it would pump water and turned the pump on and said "feel that air moving out of the pump, that means the pump is working" I explained to him that for 43 years it was my business to work with pumps of all sorts, operating and repairing them and that there was a huge difference in the molecular weight of air as compared to water. Again I asked him to honor the factory warranty, he said well we're only going to sell the pump to someone else any way and left to get a new pump. He returned with the new pump and without saying a word just slammed it down on the counter, I asked to get my pump base back and he grudgingly removed the base and started to leave without speaking . I said to him that if this new pump did not work I would be back for a new one and he just walked away without speaking. I will not do business with them again and would recomend that no one else does.
