Just wanted to send another story about towing.

About 9 pm on a Friday night, my 17 yr old son parked in an apartment complex to get his friend. He was inside the apartment 3 minutes getting the young man and talking to the parents. When they came outside, my truck which he was driving, was already hooked up and being towed. He and his friend ran down the driver who told him he had no permit and the truck was being towed. He was in the apartment 3 min. The driver saw him park and waited until he left. He told my son he could pay $180 now or a parking fee of $197 the next day. There are signs posted in the parking lot with this warning. However, there are no designated visitor spaces

I met them there and called the police. The police shared with us that there was nothing that we could do and that this happens often.

I guess this is another story that we see on your reports but figure it wont happen to us. However, it seems that an opportunity to catch a teen for a mistake was found by a tow truck driver who now will make an extra $180.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Yes, teens need to pay attention

First, I highly doubt that your son was only in the apartment for THREE minutes.

Second, you're right...the signs were there. Pays for teens to start paying attention, eh?

Finally, it's not the responsibility of the tow driver to tell your son not to leave the vehicle in an unauthorized location. Again, the teen needs to be more aware of his surroundings.

...and the $180 for the drop fee? Unless it was the owner of the towing company, that driver only receives a small commission on that. FYI
