I purchased a route 66 extended warranty through my Credit Union for a 2007 vehicle that we purchsed for my daughter.  The vehicle was in great condition and only had 91,000 on it when purchased.  We were diligent about changing oil and keeping fluids topped off.  One day my daughter went to leave for work and put the car in drive - the engine revved and then lurched forward.  She knew something was wrong so she put it in reverse to get back into her parking space.  Again the engine revved and lurched forward (while in reverse).  My daughter then put the car in neutral, pushed it back into its parking space (she's 5'2 120lbs pushing a full sized vehicle by herself mind you) and called me.  I knew it was a transmission problem so I immediately called a tow truck to pick it up.  The mechanic stated that the transmission cooler got a crack in it and dumped all the fluid and that the transmission needed to be completely rebuilt because of this.  The vehicle never overheated, and was never driven after it started acting up.  Route 66 REFUSED to pay anything because it was caused by "lack of proper fluids".  First off, this particular transmission does not have a dip stick for the owner to be able to test fluid levels on the transmission, secondly the vehicle never showed signs of transmission trouble or overheating.  How is a 19yr old girl supposed to know that her transmission fluid is low when there are no signs?  The mechanic tried to get Route 66 to send out an adjuster to see how this happened and they flat out refused to cooperate.  I am now pursuing having my Credit Union cease all business with this shady outfit.  I have found nothing but negative feedback on the company since purchasing this warranty.  I hope nobody else falls victim to their terrible service.
