I applied via internet for an office assistant position. I recieved an e-mail the next day letting me know they were interested in hiring me, but I needed to finish the application process online. I was directed to click a link that took me to a questionaire that asked about my qualifications. I have filled out questionaires more ...lengthy for jobs before, so didn't question this at all. Then it asked me to click another link because they needed a background check, and a credit report for verification. Now, I have worked with vulnerable seniors before, and they will ask for a background/ credit check permission, to make sure i'm not desperate or something. But these guys wanted me to do this FOR them! A legitamate company has this access, and does NOT ask you to do it for them. The 1st thing that ran through my mind was that they are after my info. So I tried to send an e-mail to the person who contacted me (to let them know that I thought they should do this themselves). Steve Hitchens is his name and my mail was returned so fast, I could not believe it!

I was informed that the website for the job spam might have been wrong. I apologize. Here is the correct web page for the false company sending people to the credit check.
It is www.rowe-recruitment.com and the company name is Rowe Recruitment & Partners.

While the fake company that posted the job listing you replied to is clearly a scam and there many reports on this site about them. They make their money on referral fees for each person they send for a credit report. Good for you for being too smart to fall for their tricks. However the website and phone numbers you listed are for a legitimate company in the UK that has nothing to do with the reported scam.
