i played and won ($5744) in jackpot bingo on 2/10/07. i called it and a crew member took the card form me, told me to go to the stage, and went to the back of the theater with my card. when she returned to the stage with my card she indicated to the caller the wrong panel on the card and when he checked it of course it was not a winner. they continued the game and upon further checking i realized they called the wrong panel and i did indeed win. by this time they had given my money to another person. i went directly to them and they told them of their mistake and they later verified that i did call it correctly but said i should have corrected them sooner. that card was out of my possession the from the time i called it, and it was their job to call it right. the caller did not verify the last number called, as the rules state. if he did he would have noticed their error. even though they have confirmed these events, from the ship's crew to their corporate offices their position is TOO BAD. DON'T GO WITH THEM. can anybody help

i 've contacted the ceo richard fain. he does not want to respond. they did not call the winning numbers from my seat. they did not scan the card. they took me to the stage and read the wrong panel on the card and said i didn't win. i didn't realize their mistake until they called the game. after i still had 5 other live panels to check as they were calling other numbers. they have verofied these facts and still say TOO BAD. ----SOME HONORABLE CRUISE LINE---

I am very familiar with the way they run their jackpot bingo. Upon a Bingo claim, they confirm your numbers, right there next to you, with the caller. Then, they confirm the card as valid with the cashier.
I'm a little confused about one thing. How did they check the wrong card number? All of the cards in your pack should have been legitimate cards. So even if they scanned the numbers of another card, it should have been good. I'm assuming you didn't give them anything other than the proper colored cards. Right? What happened when they said it was bad? Did you argue your case right there? If so, why did they continue?
Here's my take. You paid good money for those jackpot cards. If you won, and some sort of confusion prevented you from receiving your money, you have a good arguement here. I'm assuming you got the names of all persons involved. If not, Bingo is run by the Cruise Director staff. The caller is usually the Assistant Cruise Director. I'm sure this incident is still fresh in their minds. ASAP, send a letter addressed to Richard Fain at Royal Caribbean. If they look into this and can not definitively conclude you were entitled the money, they should at least refund your ticket cost so that you are not technically victim of any losses.
Hope I helped a little. Good luck.
