As a loyal 7 year customer, with no tickets and one minor fender bender 5 years ago. My family was having a tough financial time and our insurance lapsed for 10 days. Once we paid to re instate our insurance, our premium jumped up 40% to 160.00 a month for the most scant of coverage.couple months later, the 30 year old car died, we were forced to buy another one. Called Safeco, to remove the old junker to replace with a 5 year old Kia. Safeco let me know that my new payment is now 300.00 a month. For basic coverage. When I asked why so much more, I was told it was due to the cost of parts.

truth is, it has nothing to do with the parts, they base their rates souly on credit scores and not actual driving history. I wanted to expose thief bully ways, and oh yeah the next stop is the Doi department of insurance. Any company who exploits honest people deserve to be brought out into the light. Safeco insurance let me down. Don't let them do it too your family like mine. Thank God I am finally working again so I can support my family.

when considering auto insurance. Avoid Safeco insurance and answer financial. When you need them the most. They will turn their back on youas a consumer this is my voice. I encourage all of you who have problems with Safeco and answer financial to report them to your states Department of insurance. This hits them where it hurts, the bottom line. It cost them thousands of dollars for each comlaint in resources and possibliy jepordizes their license to do business in your state. It is wrong to discriminate soly on a credit score and financial standing. Please post your story about Safeco insurance.

truth is, it has nothing to do with the parts, they base their rates souly on credit scores and not actual driving history

- Oh really?  And just what proof do you have of this other than your own twisted "blame everyone else" attitude.

You bought a car that was 25 years newer and your rate went up..what a surprise.  In the time between you buying the car and calling them up to change did your credit history change?  Did your driving history change?  Of course not the ONLY thing that happened was you bought a car that was worth more money.  You failed to mention one other very important item.  Is this newer car financed?  If it is then you are also required to carry FULL coverage(liability and comprehensive).  This requirement is not from the Insurance company it is from your finance company.  Comprehsive is generally the most expensive and is solely based on the cost of the vehicle and yes..the cost of replacement parts.

Insurance is based on several "risk" factors.  This includes your driving history, where you live, the type of car you have, and yes your credit history.  The less favorable any one of those factors are the higher the risk you are, the higher the risk the more you pay.   Regardless of what you think, with everything else being equal a person with a horrible driving record is going to be paying more than a person with a horrible credit history.  If you have a problem with the factors then get off of your a** and talk to your State Legislatures(you know the people that can actually do something about it) and have them propose laws to change it.

The other fact is that you had a lapse in coverage.  It doesn't matter the reason why or who you are with that is seen as a huge negative.  It doesn't matter if it was for 10 days or 10 months.  As such your rates are going to go up and that is with ANY insurance company.  I am not even going to mention that in that 10 days you were breaking the law and just be lucky that they did not report you to the State as if they did you could have had your license suspended..yes even for a 10 day lapse.

It cost them thousands of dollars for each comlaint in resources and possibliy jepordizes their license to do business in your state.

- Yea only if they are doing anything illegal, and nothing you posted here shows even a hint of that.  Oh and as another little bit of information it costs them NOTHING for each complaint.  They just transfer the cost to their customers in the terms of higher rates, or by reducing staff.

But in the end if these people are so horrible why are you still with them?  Why haven't you called other insurance companies to get a rate comparison?  Oh but when you do be sure they give you a guaranteed rate because there are some that will give you an "estimate" based on what you tell them.  However, when they verify everything they may increase your rate, sometimes significantly.

Ever since I got Safeco in 1997 I have had nothing but great service from them!! When I totaled my truck rear ending a BMW they not only paid for the car but only charged me the minimum per month till paid off.  I also have full coverage on both my truck and trailer for under 120.00 a month.  They have paid every claim I have ever had without incident and I even have Mexico insurance for no charge.

I think your story is lacking alot of information.  And BTW I suggest you learn how to SPELL.
