I found patio furniture that I really liked for the money, great value; unfortunately sometimes value comes at the expense of quality so I was somewhat reluctant.
The gal in the club informed me that I would be better off if I ordered form Samsclub.com with shipping done by Sams versus my having to pay and coordinate on my own … sounded good to me.
I found the on-line experience pretty user friendly, placed my order for three sets, a fairly large order. The first delivery was scheduled for two of the three.
Delivery day; the box containing the heavy table top was open exposing the table top, so the delivery service hid the opened/damaged box by placing the opened portion of the box down on the driveway so I wouldn’t see it.
Moving the box into place to get the legs attached, scraped and pitted the aluminum and finish, so I made a claim. I was told there were no more in stock if I return it, so I kept it and would be given a 15% credit for my “inconvenience” after I sent some pics … so I did.
Second box was opened, given the first situation I decided to unwrap all pieces and lo and behold the bench’s frame was bent and snapped at the arm, damage on the box revealed it was dropped on it’s side at some point.
So I made another claim and again was told there was no more in stock if I return it … even though I could see the item still being sold on-line. I was informed that it would be scheduled for pick-up. Two weeks went by with no communication whatsoever, I want my garage space back so I see on-line that you can return items bought on-line at the local store, … I rented a trailer.
Upon getting the item to the store, a rep from Samsclub.com gets involved as my credit was in the system in a “holding pattern,” this rep proceeds to tell me and the local Sams rep that I am going to have to take it back home for a scheduled pick-up … that wasn’t even scheduled.
I rented a trailer to purchase a replacement set at the store, I rented another to get the damaged one back to the store, I am out at least $100 plus 6 hour of my valuable time … I refused this generous offer, and almost two hours later managers on both sides worked it out somehow.
So after all this, I don’t get a 15% price reduction for the table I kept … per local Sams rep I will get a 15% discount OFF MY NEXT PURCHASE at Samsclub.com … I’m thinking this company is delusional, why would I ever, ever, ever do this again!
Btw – many kudos to the Sams staff at the Conroe TX store that assisted me, there is yet a shimmer of light.
