I had been a member of Score Scense for years.  Recently, I began to question the scores their report provided as well as the status of some very old tax liens.  I decided it was time to look into their information.

Once I located the release of tax lien I'd received years ago, I logged in to CS to get the Dispute Resulotion phone number.  I was very disturbed to find they no longer have a live contact for this service.  The web page only provided an online link to the three bureaus that allow you to file your own disputes.  I certainly don't need to pay $30 a month to get that free information.

I did go to each bureau and obtained my free, annual report and begin the dispute process.  I was shocked to find two of the bureaus had been reporting the liens paid for years.  Only one still showed open.  I've been in the credit industry myself for nearly 30 years and know that one may always be erroneous, but as long as the others are OK, creditors will accept the fact that they are clear.  SS still reported all three as reflecting the liens were open.

Score Sense also reported two open medical collections.  My investigation with the bureaus showed only one report contained anything on these.  The report showed they were the same account, one of which reported as paid, and also reflected an insurance company paid the debt.  I disputed the collection with the one bureau reporting, and within days, I received notice that the items were deleted from my report.

Finally, as the latest SS report did shows the collection now paid, I expected my score for that bureau to increase.  Instead, it dropped 20 points to about 650.  This too turned out to be false as I found out by requesting scores from another service.  My score was actually 709.

Bottom line is that Score Sense has stolen many dollars from me over the years by charging $30 a month for no real value returned.

My advise is cancel any service you may have with them, and more importantly, stay away from them if you haven't been taken in already.
