Seawest Financial, CPSseawest Financial,consumer Portfolio applied for a loan for car while in the military, paid them every month, never got notice that loan changed owner, paid off, never got title and can't seem to get anything done about it! irvine California

When I was enlisted in the Army in Fort Stewert Georgia I applied for a loan for a car at an extremely high interest rate. The monthly amount was taken out of my account until I was finished with my 4yr enlistment. After that, I continued to pay and was never contacted to let me know that Consumer Portfolio Services had bought out Seawest Financial and Seawest continued to collect my payments long after they were no longer in business. I have been paid off, but according to CPS I owe a balance of $1800.

I have tried to get my title for my vehicle to no avail. Also, the title is still in the name of Seawest and since they are no longer doing business, I'm having a hell of a time proving they are out of business.

I have tried to resolve this now for 4yrs and haven't had any luck. Georgia DMV told me to send proof that Seawest is not the lienholder anymore and I have done so. Still, I am now in another state and have sent them the info they have asked for and I keep getting put on hold with the DMV in Georgia and have been told they lost the paperwork, lost the check for the title and basically keep getting the run around.

There are many many people with the same problem and in some states they are filing class action lawsuits on Seawest and Consumer Portfolio Services for not sending people their titles.

If you can help with this, please let me know.
I would think with all the complaints these two companies are getting, they would be shut down for shady operation.
