Seawest Financial They no longer exist and I'm stuck with over 6 Gs in debt RIPOFF Long Beach California

I purchased a car in Oct 2003 and was financed by Grayson. A few months later, I find out Seawest had bought my loan. I was trying to get a copy of my title and called Seawest. They said that they were going out of business, and my account had been sold to CPS.

I have contacted CPS at this number 1-888-829-3703. I need to register my car in a new state and can't do it because no one can find my title. The copy I have says Grayson is still the Lienholder, but my allotments are going to CPS. I am going to try to contact the State Attorney as well.

SeaWest Financial was purchased by a company called CPS out of Irvine CA. Their phone # is 1-888-211-8075.......Good Luck because they are no more help than anyone at SeaWest was and they are also just as rude!

Just let me start off by saying I am right there with you. I'm also in the Air Force and I had my loan through SeaWest. Now Im trying to get rid of my car and I can't find anything. I contacted the dealer and they know nothing. Does anyone have a number for this new company? My First Sgt is ready to get involved, so I want to make sure I try everything first.

I was advised by the Secretary of State to send a certified letter to the last known address for Seawest, with return reciept requested. When that letter is returned to me unopened and marked return to sender, addressee unknown, they will issue me a clear title since they will take that returned letter as a release of lien. I was told that a lot of finance companies move or go out of business so the only way for you to get a clear title thereafter is to show proof to the Secretary of State that the company is no longer in business. The next step would be to send a copy of that CLEAR title to Consumer Portfolio Services and if they have reported your debt to the credit bureau, request in writting, that they "unreport" it. I sent my letter on Wednesday, so I will let you know if it works.

Everything was destroyed when I crashed my car in San Antonio last year. I will contact the Secretary of State and see what happens. Thank you for your advice.

I am wondering if you have physical possession of your title. Seawest, as you were correct in stating, no longer exsists. They were bought out by Consumer Portfolio Services, who are no more help than Seawest ever was. If you hold your title then you should be able to go to the Secretary of State and file for a lost title and chances are that it will come back a clear title. If it doesn't and Seawest is the lien holder then you can dispute that because Seawest no longer exsists. Let me know what happens and good luck.
