Sherman Acquisition debt collector ripoff Greenville South Carolina

In July 2003, I made a settlement pay-off agreement with a company representing Sherman Acquisition (Northland Group)to make (4) monthly payments of $246.16. On October 30, 2003 the final agreed-to payment was made.

December 1, 2003 I received a letter from Northland on behalf of Sherman Acquisitiion stating, "Your recent payment has brought your account to a close. We now consider this account closed with no further obligation."

On February 9, 2004 I received a collection letter from Pioneer Credit Recovery, Inc. stating that "Sherman Acquisition has purchased my account from a previous creditor,and they want an additional $1570. Sherman Acquisition was the creditor to which I made the settlement in the first place! First my credit report reflected a zero balance on this debt, but now they are reporting derogatory and trashing my file with all three CRAs. I found out that Sherman is not bonded and cannot collect in Texas. Can you help?
