I wanted to buy a three year subscription to Adobe's pdf writer software from Software-HQ. I entered my Visa details, pressed the 'download now' button, and presto, became the proud owner of a membership to an 'Internet club' through which I could pay more money to supposedly buy software... if I was willing to be scammed twice, which I'm not.
I e-mailed Software-HQ immediately at the only e-mail address available, asking them to refund my money, and received no answer. When I received my Visa details, they included a phone number, which led to an answerphone message, which led to an e-mail address, which I e-mailed, and they replied saying that the 7-day period for getting a free refund had expired.
Today I got my Visa company to phone Software-HQ (tel. 951 279 3816), and they agreed to refund my money minus a $5.99 'administration fee'. It's not worth it for me to follow this up any further, but from other reports on Ripoffreport, it's clear that I'm not the only person whom they have scammed.
