On 12/29/08 I placed an order to sell my CD's to Spun.com. All of my CD's were going to total to $40.80 credited to my Paypal account. As others before me on this site, they came back to me on 1/15/09 indicating that my CD's were scratched, etc. and that they were devaluing the entire order by 75% as indicated on their terms and conditions.

I contested their evaluation of my items as I know that the condition of my items were all excellent. They responded back that I had 30 days to respond back to them what I wanted done to my items; either they dispose of them or I can choose to have them shipped back to me but I would have to provide them $4.00 in shipping costs and refund their original Paypal payment of $13.88. The same day I received this e-mail, I accessed my Paypal account, refunded their money and provided them an additional $4.00 as per their e-mail.

On 1/21/09 they e-mail me yet again acknowledging my e-mail stating that they will be returning my product as I had requested and also an additional e-mail via the Paypal account indicating to me that I had received a payment in the amount of $6.30 (less than half of what they originally tried to pay me) with an additional note stating: "I am sorry to say that your accepted items cannot be returned. These items were accepted and have already been added to our inventory. For this reason, the remaining balance of $6.30 has been sent to you via PayPal".

I responded to them that I am refunding all their money since as per their e-mail, they had agreed to send my product and that I had 30 days from the day of their e-mail, which I am well within that time frame, and to find my product and send it to me. This afternoon, I refunded their money, so we will see what they respond with this time. I should have known that a company without a phone number and only e-mail addresses would be less than reputable but I didn't check this site before I dealt with them. The only reason why they wouldn't return my CD's at this point is because they aren't scratched. Their false statements about the "integrity" of the product of their company and how they live up to it and how my product was not up to par is just a way to make themselves seem reputable.

I warn everyone to stay away from this company. They quote you higher resale costs up front so that they can get you to send in your product, then they "claim" that your quality CD's are less than acceptable and then they scam you for the entire order amount in the end. I will follow up this report with their responses.

Response from Spun.com:

AUTHOR: Spun.com - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 05, 2009

Unfortunately it appears that the customer misunderstood the correspondence. We encourage her to review all correspondence which we also have record of and can provide. At no time did we state ACCEPTED items could be returned. We are in the business of buying products from people and selling them to other customers. Everyone benefits because the seller gets money for something they no longer wanted, the buyer gets a great price on guaranteed quality used items and Spun gets a commission on the transaction. Naturally, we can't return items we have sold to someone else.

Conversely, all items which we reject and/or which we purchase at a reduced price due to scratching, are put aside for 30 days in case the customer wants them back. With this customer, all items that were checked in at a reduced payout due to scratching can and have been returned at her request. All items accepted at full value were paid for. The customer refused PayPal payment and in turn threatened to sue for the very amount we were trying to pay her via PayPal (the agreed upon payment method). All scratched and rejected items have been returned to the customer. Note that a check that was issued in place of PayPal as payment continued to be refused.

Our Acceptance Standards and Policies are provided throughout our site and in email correspondence. These policies were also stated in the Terms of Service acknowledged by the customer 12/28/2008 09:13PM. Spun.com has been in business for over 10 years and we take great pride in the services we provide. We have hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers. If you are questioning doing business with Spun.com please come and take a look at our site, view the help section, and check out the testimonials from many of our satisfied customers. We are one of the few places on the Internet where you can still get personal customer service.
