I have a small editing service, and I have used Square for processing small amounts of money from clients over the past several years.  I have never had a complaint from a client or any request for a refund (which I certainly would have given if a customer was ever dissatisfied).

Last month, I noticed that the fees I had processed through Square were not being transferred to my bank account.  I contacted the company through email (there is absolutely no way to contact them by phone) and all I was told is that the money is being held to ensure that I have complied with their policies, and if there are no ‘problems’ it will possibly be released to me after 6 months!

I have asked them why they have kept my money (they certainly took out their percentage),  yet they have failed to provide a reason or justification for keeping  the money.  They have also failed to guarantee that the money will ever be sent to my bank account!  They have provided no names for contacting, and they have refused to provide any phone numbers.

I am sure Square has done this with many small account and have profited from this scam many times.  Beware small business owners!  There are reputable companies to use for credit card processing.  Do Not Use Square!
