I received a check in the mail from Starluck Casino i/a/o $4,968.23 saying I have been awarded an amount of $98,000.00 and the check was to cover taxes and clearance fees (if it were real taxes would take half!). The letter stated for me to contact them at the head office for the processing and remittance of my prize money to a destination of my choice (can you say cashier's check?)... Which leads me to believe they simply want my account info to steal from me.

The letterhead also has this info on it: Sponsors: Publisher's Clearing House, Readers Digest and Online Games. Which of course PCH and Readers Digest are reputable and would lead the guilible to go ahead with the grifters plans. Since anyone who isn't in need of cash, oh how I wish this were true. However, after research I have found that I am among many these people are trying to deceive and it is terribly troubling to me.

The check says Omni (with a little family holding hands) Community Credit Union - The Smarter Way to bank. In Battle Creek Michigan. The check also has payable through US Bank, St. Paul, MN. I found it odd to begin with since I don't play online games and if I did win, why would they not send a cashier's check or registered mail???

My head hurts because how I wish it were true yet angry at the deception. And that there could be many people who would not research and discern and be caught up in this fraudulant scam. The letter is signed by a Walter Levin, PhD.
