My move was 4-27-06 and i still have no resolution of the following problem on 6-20-06. When I made the reservation to use your company I was quoted that there would be a rate of $70/hour with a 2 hour minimum and no travel time would be charged. I was also told there would be an 11% fee for gas, etc. The salesperson, Shariss at ext 377 did her big sale by telling me that they would start the move time at the moment they arrive at the first location, it stops when they leave to go to the 2nd, starts again when arriving at the 2nd location and ends when they finish the move. The movers arrived at 8:36 AM and left my old house at 12:45 PM. They arrived at my new location at 1:43 which was due to them locking their radio and delivery information in my old house so we both had to return to that location a second time to retrive their forgotten items. The drive time between the 2 locations was actually less than 20 minutes. Then they finally finished after damaging several of my items at 5:10.
The move time was actually 6 hours and 36 minutes, but I was charged for 9 hours. Because of the problems with they movers loosing their paperwork and radio, the local rep Sherri gave me a slight discount which equaled approximately 1.5 hours, which left me paying for 7.5 hours instead of 6.5. I called Starving Students 4 times, each time leaving messages with customer service, who informed me I had to go through the local office because it wasn't there problem. It wasn't until the 5th call that I was able to get someone to respond. Finally they gave me Mike M, the local manager who said that he could do nothing because the quote was done by the parent company. Mike then gave me Danny G's number. I had to leave 3 messages again to receive a call back. I sent over to Danny a written account of all this. He apologized that the local office had different standards and said the best he could do was to give me a refund of another half hour. I said any gesture of good faith was appreciated and if I was refunded that amount right away, I would drop the rest of my complaint. This conversation happened the first week of May.
Since this has never happened and I still have not received any compensation or even any communications about my broken articles.
