I ordered tickets for Hello Dolly with Bette Midler in NYC. The price was $800 per ticket. Then Stub Hub put $400 of fees on the order.

The tickets were not available to print at the time I tried to cancel the order. They told me that I could only resell them.

I posted them on the site for a breakeven dollar number and now they tell me that the tickets are way overpriced for that area. I will end up taking a huge loss on these tickets and was not informed of the huge fees put on these tickets when I placed the order. I was told Stub Hub does not put large fees on tickets by other friends who have used the service.

Stub Hub refused to credit back these fees to me even though they are charging the fees not the ticket seller.

HUGE RIP OFF AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

Still a Rip off

Charging Fees 25% on tickets costing $800 is a huge rip off and Stub Hub knows it. Even 10% at $160 is high for servicing the tickets. This is gouging.

StubHub is a 3rd Party Reseller site. The ticket prices are set by the user that is selling them, they can ASK any price they want. It is up to the buyer as to if they are willing to pay that price. You apparently were willing to pay $800 a ticket.

Now, as a 3rd party site they charge various fees for their service, after all they are a business not a charity.  Your friends were right in a way, the fees they charge are mostly percentagage based, so the more expensive the ticket the more their fees are. Most people don't balk or complain if they are paying $15-$20 in fees when their tickets may be $100, but you throw in an $800 ticket and you notice.

When you account for all of the fees(not including shipping), the average is around 15%-30% depending on the exact situation. So if we figure you bought 2 tickets at $800 each, that is right in the normal range.

Now, again you as the buyer have the power to either accept or decline this charge by completing or not completing the sale. Because these fees are FULLY disclosed BEFORE you purchase the ticket and it isn't in some "fine print" it is itemized right on the screen.   It isn't a charge that magically appears after you purchase the tickets.  If you say it wasn't there, then you just failed to read the screen.
