The company charges a $1000 fee that does not go towards the balance of the loan. The fee is supposedly to be enrolled in a loan forgiveness program but the government program is free. They also said that part of the service they charge for is to communicate with the federal student loan department to get the loans in forbearance so that payments don't have to be made while everything is in process. They did not do so and I had to pay my regular student loan payment and a monthly payment to the Student Aid Center, which was an additional $199 each month to total $1000.
