It's all very simple. I bought a bottle of cologne on target.com for 30% off normal department store prices and it wound up being a counterfeit.
It happens all the time in the fragrance world. However if you can't trust the big companies to sell you authentic merchandise and nobody else is doing anything to control it I find that disturbing. Even worse is I was unable to explain my situation to the right people at target simply because I couldn't get through to them on the phone or their customer service inquiry wasn't letting me send emails.
I am tired of ripoffs in this country. If companies want to rip off their customers in this economy let it be known that this one will fight back.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
I wondered about that

One time I watched someone take apart something, I told someone, yet did not think it was important. One time when I worked at Target and stocked the shelves I saw two products alike yet there was a difference, not sure what the explanation was.
It can happen other places too: Some recalls come from products that contain batteries because the batteries are counterfeit
Then it looks like when people stock the shelves some people are not as quick to see there is a difference and do not try to explain the reason. I watched a TV program about people getting things into the country as copies without people noticing it, yet there are inspectors who do look for those things
