So, Im looking to buy a nice camera online. I researched prices and brands and found the lowest price for the model I wanted at TheDigitalNerds.com. Since the price wasn't that much lower than other sites, my little warning bells didn't go off. I happily placed my order. That was yesterday. Today I get a call from some guy who didn't give me his name, telling me that the camera I had ordered was the "International" model as noted in the ad, not the "American" model. So? The problem, according to him, was that all of the information for the camera would be in Japanese. So? I can access instruction manuals in English online. Oh no - he says all the menus on the camera are in Japanese as well. You don't speak Japanese do you, he asks? He can fix this for me for the small price of $60.00, bringing the total to 279 from 215. Oh, and do I need a memory card, camera strap, case, tripod or anything else?

I hung up and re-checked the ad - no mention anywhere about an International model- certainly nothing about anything Japanese. I called the number on the page and got some other guy (different voice.) I told him I wanted to speak with someone about order number blah-blah. He said the order had been processed. "I know. I want to cancel it." He says, "Fine. It's canceled. You'll never buy from us again." Now I'm talking to dead air and asking about an email confirmation of the cancel. I did receive one.

I don't like up-selling, but I know many companies do it. These guys are rude jerks, liars and they can't count. (I'm bummed about the inconvenience of canceling my card, but hey - the numbers The Nerds have won't do 'em any good.)
