TigerDirect.com advertised a 46" "SMART" TV online for a low price. So low that had it not been recertified/ refurbished it would have made one question. It was just over half price of the going rate for a Smart TV this size. Online purchase completed I waited for it's arrival. While waiting I decided to look at the TV via model # to read some reviews. In doing so I found that no other site indicated it as a SMART TV.

The day prior to it's arrival I attempted to call customer service to inquire about the possible misrepresentation. It was then that I came accross what later I was convinced were a series of tacticks designed to misdirect and thwart my efforts to get a exchange or refund. Multiple calls to customer service were met with rediculously long wait times. The recorded message loops in such a way that there is no music inbetween for 20 min, then rings as if your getting to a live person then puts you into a que again after punching the right numbers.

When I did reach someone I explained that the TV I was receiving was not going to be as advertised. She asked me to wait and se. The next day, sure enough, Not a Smart TV. Did the calling and waiting agai and the person eventually answered. I explained the situation and her reply was to call the manufacturer. I said No, the manufacturer could't change the TV from not to a Smart one or do something about Tiger Direct's misrepresentation.

She placed me on hold for 12 min before coming back and saying that the TV was never advertised as Smart. I was still on line and checked right then. There it was still advertised as Smart. Thank goodness the invoice in my online account also reflected It as a Smart TV. The lady put me on hold for another 16 Min supposedly to do more research. The line made a sound as if it were picked up again then dropped.

I went online the next day and found that they changed the advertisement to a regular TV. When I used their online return process I found that the return shipping would only cover $15 of the $48 dollars for the return and that there would be a 15% restocking fee which would have cost me another $45. $78 bucks for returning something they misrepresented. I wonder if this adds up to something large anually for them.
