On January 30, 2017 My home was buglarized while I was at work. I received a phone call around 7 am from a neighbor saying my garage was opened. I knew I closed it and verified my thoughts with the neighbor across the street who happens to be a Police Offiecer. Until that morning I had no knowledge of that because they hadn't lived there long. The Police Officer confirmed with another Officer that when he came home around 630 am my garage was closed but when he came back a bit before 7am it was open. I had left for work at 622 am.

First Travelers tried to state that my home was not broken into and then later they tried to say they denied my claim because I had returned a bracelet that was claimed. I showed the evidence showing that statement was false. I contacted the Georgia Insurance Commissioner Office and afterwards they reopened the claim. Since then I have had to hire a attorney and I am still fighting with them today.

I filed a police report with the missing items, showed receipts for some of the items that I had, showed pictures of the items in my possession. I told the Police Detective who I think stole my property. His response was this isnt T.V we cant get finger prints off the walls, door knobs or wood. A 65' HDTV was stolen out of my livingroom, and a 55'HDTV was stolen out of my bedroom. Those Televisions alone would have required the person to touch the walls to unplug them or to get their balance.

The other items stolen were other electronic devises, 2 other smaller T.V's , Jewelry, and leather jackets. My policy was only for $10,000 but the items stolen was valued at over $28,000. I don't care if I had the receipts or not I was able to show where the items was in my home. My friend who use to work for travelers says they get bonuses to deny claims. A company should not be able to choose not to pay a claim because they have unanswered questions. Any opportunity I had to clear up any questions I was more than willing to  answer questions. The adjuster never called me back to ask any additional questions and in fact I feel that  my claim was denied as a form retailiation. Almost 45 days after I filed my claim I got no answers just the run around so i called Mr. Voguel's supervisor and 5 minutes later he called me and said we are denying your claim. We aren't talking about peanuts here.  How does the law say what the insurance companys does is fair. Where is the justice.

last year I had a rough year my home was burlarized, my engagement ring came up missing, and I had a car accident.  I am just tired of Company's abusing their power. If I was a rich person I wouldn't have been treated this way. I shouldn't have to forfeit 40% of what they might pay just because I had to hire a attorney to fight for my rights.

It has take me this long to file this report beause I hoped they would have been paid by now but they haven't so I want to help others not to make the same mistakes as I did.

For starters take photos and document all serial numbers for electronic devises. Take Videos of your property. I also want to add that Travelers tried to tie my break in to my house to another case I was dealing with for my kids. I was literally fighting for my life and my kids lives and because of that she assumed my insurance claim was fraud. She said I needed the money to hire a attorney. I showed her that my attorney for that case was paid in full. I showed her my taxes where I almost got $40,000 back plus before I moved to Georgia I was making $48,000 a year.

You must have a huge house

AUTHOR: coast - (United States)

I suppose you have to sit at least 200 feet away from the 65 foot and 55 foot TV screens. You paid $40,000 in taxes on a $48,000 income. Apparently your employer miscalculated the withholding tax or you requested the excess withholding on your W-4 form.
