We, like others who have complained , noticed that after paying on our vehicle for over two years , that our principle had not been paid on . Only the interest. At the time I worked construction , which in Illinois is seasonal work . So I was always getting laid off in the winter and those times it was always a struggle to make full payments.

They didn't care. Unemployment checks were not big enough to make full payments as well as have money left over to pay other bills or to buy food for my three children . I offered to pay in two installments , but they wouldn't even let me do that.

That wasn't good enough, they had to have it all right now. The way I saw it , part of the money was better than no money. Not in their eyes. They are very greedy and cold - hearted.

""At the time I worked construction , which in Illinois is seasonal work . So I was always getting laid off in the winter and those times it was always a struggle to make full payments.""

If you knew (as most seasonal workers do) that you were going to be laid off and collecting unemployment benefits, you should have budgeted your money appropriately so that you could afford your vehicle payments during the periods you would be laid off.

""Unemployment checks were not big enough to make full payments as well as have money left over to pay other bills or to buy food for my three children .""

This is a dilemma for all seasonal employees. Most will NOT enter into a credit contract that they cannot fullfill based on unemployment benefit payments.

""That wasn't good enough, they had to have it all right now. The way I saw it , part of the money was better than no money. Not in their eyes. They are very greedy and cold - hearted.""

It's the old "a contract is a contract is a contract." Your contract probably didn't have an "unemployed" clause in it and I'll assume that you opted out of the additional insurance that many lenders offer. This additional insurance would have made the payments for you should you become unemployed for reasons beyond your control (illness, injury, lay off, etc.)

In the future, consider your budgeting decisions more carefully before entering into any additional credit contracts. I know what it's like to get laid off (used to work for a auto supplier) but my expenses did not exceed what my unemployment benefit payments would be so even when I collected unemployment, I was able to meet all my financial obligations.

More detailed planning on your part will prevent this from happening again.

Good luck.
