My truck was totaled and my insurance paid off only what they deemed it to be worth, no problem I had GAP insurance, yeah right. I had to do a lot of phone calling mailing info gathering and faxing to insure that the proccess was moved along in a timely manner, the GAP insurance paid Triad and sent me a statement stating that the loan had been paid off and that there was a zero ballance left. Then about a month later I recieved my first corrospondence from Triad, the first sinse I started the process, telling me that I owed them $1600.00. So I called and talked to Rebecca and asked how this could be. I was very calm and respectful to her knowing that being upset and rude would only fuel a potential fire, after telling her that I had an invoice marked paid in full from the GAP insurance co. she asked me who it was from, needing a name, to which I responded that it didnt have an individuals name only the companies name and offered to fax it to her, she didnt want a copy. I heard her typing and asked her if she was intering notes to my account about the invoice from the GAP co. to which she responded "no, I'm writing notes that you are refusing to pay". Never did I say this to her, I even have a witness to this conversation who couldnt believe what was going on. Then about four days later I recieved a letter from Triad with Rebecca's name on it stating I still owed $1600.00. I didnt respond to it when then about three weaks later I recieved another letter from Triad with a different name stating that I owed $500.00. The letter was full of concern about my credit stating that surely I didnt want this to blimmish my credit. All of this is after they cashed a check of $1000.00 from a warrenty policy that I canceled on the truck a month earlier. Word of the wise, if your truck is totaled dont cancel the extended warrenty until the lien holder is paid off because in the fine print it states they get it.
